Ballindalloch Distillery
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Ballindalloch Distillery is within the Ballindalloch Castle Estate, the home of the Macpherson-Grant family since 1546. The current laird Guy Macpherson-Grant is the 23rd generation of his family to call the castle home.
Distilling on the Ballindalloch Estate dates back to the early 1820’s when Sir George Macpherson-Grant, the 3rd Baronet of Ballindalloch, established the first still on the Estate. He was also a founder along side John Smith of the Cragganmore distillery in 1869.
The Ballindalloch Distillery is a return for the family to their distilling traditions. The decision to create a Ballindalloch Distillery was made in 2011 and the old steading building originally built in the 1820s was chosen as the ideal location. Over the following two years the Distillery took shape base on the tradition of maintaining a hands on approach to the process.
The Distillery has gone on to be successful winning Whisky Magazine’s Craft Producer of the Year in 2015.
