[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he current station was opened in 1898 and replaced the original which had been built in 1863.

In 1998 the station was refurbished, and the Strathspey Railway was also allowed to use one of the platforms.

The station is located in the centre of Aviemore with numerous shops, restaurants and hotels within a short walking distance.
